Review on Genie Battery Backup Model 6072H-B Wall Mounted Garage Door Opener, Black by Rodrigo Harrison

Poorly written instructions, violent shaking

The instructions are poorly written, and the page numbers seem to be from an older version of the instruction booklet. My unit flashed an error code, and the troubleshooting guide said to go to page 18 and 19 for advice on re-adjusting up/down limits. Page 18 and 19 have nothing to do with up/down limits. I then realized that the referenced page numbers in the troubleshooting section of the manual are completely wrong. Also, the motor causes the door to shake violently for the first few seconds of downward travel. Genie says this is part of their "Safe-T Pulse internal chain tensioning system” and it should behave like this. I do not recommend buying this unit if it purposely shakes the garage door and tracks by emitting a pulse to the cables to check for / detect slack. This unit will cause wear to you door, tracks, and all related components after repeated down cycles with violent shaking. The shaking is very loud and even visible when looking at the door, and many people have asked me if it’s safe to use my garage door opener based on the violent shaking it causes. It’s an embarrassment and a nuisance.

Pros
  • SAFE-T-PULSE SYSTEM: Patent-pending system that provides internal tension monitoring of door cables with an electronic pulse during initial door travel.
Cons
  • Limited customer reviews on the product
