Very disappointed. This is my first time using a chalk marker and I've heard they don't usually work very well. You definitely fit that description. After writing 5 words, the chalk came out harder and harder and seemed to dry out. I kept shaking to try and get the ink to the tip, but it didn't get any better. So I had to press harder to get the ink out. At the end of writing 3 sentences, the tip is completely corrupted and useless. I don't have much experience with chalk pens, but if that's okay, I'd rather use real chalk. I can say that I tested it on a small board surface first and wiped it down with water with no problem. Update: I took off another star. When I checked the marker on the board (which I did in the first season) the marker wore off fine. But when I left the words for 2 days and then tried to clean them with water, they didn't come off completely. It's very easy to read what I wrote before. I may have to paint over it with chalk paint. What a nightmare.
