Starter kit - a must have! But that doesn't mean it's only for beginners. This was the first tool set I bought after buying my first knife. It's a good all-around strain, especially for those trying to carve and not sure if they're going to stick with it. You can buy more expensive tools, but unless you go a lot more expensive you won't find a better set. I love them and use them every time I cut. Think of it as a start - it's by no means everything you need, but it's enough to get you started, and with enduring quality. Be aware these are hand tools, don't even think about using a hammer with them.
