Review on Filtrete 3US MAX S01 Maximum Filtration Installation by Randy Bin

A recent test showed high levels of lead in my drinking water. I bought this filter to deal with it. I decided to install this as a filter for my fridge. The refrigerator makes ice and dispenses water. The fridge already has a carbon filter, but it's not designed to remove lead, so I had to upgrade it. Water lines used for refrigerators and ice makers are typically 1/4 inch OD with compression fittings. The water lines on this Filtrete unit are 3/8" OD, so some adapters are required. I chose to install Filtrete in a cabinet above my fridge for easy access when it needs to be replaced and to keep my fridge flush with the wall. I bought 25 feet of 1/4" OD polyethylene tubing, 2 quick disconnects connecting the 3/8" OD to the 1/4" OD, and 2 sets of compression fittings to attach the bare plastic tubing to the water, outlet, and refrigerator This unit is cheaper than Revain at your local hardware store, but I'll still link to the correct products here. Setup was quick and easy. The final step was to remove my fridge's existing water filter and install a filter bypass.
