Bought a set of 8 about two years ago and have really enjoyed using them. They really do have the iconic shape and size for cabs and merlots (and zines too if you ask me). Advertised as "dishwasher safe" I pop them in the dishwasher every now and then. Last weekend my third Riedel bit the dust. As you can see the crack is in the center of the glass and not on the rim or leg. All three of my cracked Riedels failed the same way. And I don't think it's the dishwasher because I have a habit of checking glasses when I take them out. This last one actually cracked after I poured some wine in it! I think I toasted with another Riedel in my set but the glasses touched almost effortlessly. In fact, I remember wondering at the time if two glasses were touching as I could barely hear the sound. If you are considering this set, do not buy them, they are too fragile. If you already have a set, I recommend the following:* Hand wash, not in the dishwasher, despite what Riedel says.* Check them carefully after washing to make sure they aren't torn yet.* Store them with a gasket open each glass so they don't touch or touch a hard surface.* Don't clink glasses with another person* In other words, ignore Riedel's claims of durability and treat them like priceless antiques. .I hope this review helped.
