Review on CycleOps 9714 Trainer Skewer by Justin Quinones

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Overpriced, poor end cap design results in bent skewer shaft

Traditional skewer with longer shaft. The tapered end cap does not fit properly on the Cycleops trainer and is therefore inadequately supported, causing the inner skewer shaft to bend at the threaded portion. The end cap should be as slightly tapered or barrel shaped as possible and the diameter should be checked to ensure it is fully inserted into the Cycleops Trainer Mount. Otherwise, the skewer shaft will bend, especially if you're a heavier rider or pedaling during interval training. I weigh 155 pounds and managed to bend the tables. Until Cycleops offers the best skewer design specifically for their running shoes, save your money and buy a regular quick release skewer for half the price or less as you'll probably need to replace it anyway. frequently.
