I made a hole in my hot tub and installed a sand filter and they have for this part works fine. But where I left the frame to get to the filter, I actually broke one of them while tightening the nut. You have to be very careful with them. Despite using pipe tape and eventually pipe thread sealant, I still had issues with leaking threaded connections.
