Review on πŸš— Midwest Can 1200 - Compact Gas Can with 1 Gallon Capacity for Efficient Fuel Storage by Scott Richardson

Impossible and dangerous leak

I bought this gas bottle to replace a very old metal container. The newest plastic container is fine, but the "safe" spout is terrible. This is almost impossible as you have to hold the can at an awkward angle with one hand and try to tamper with the absurd mechanism to let the gas flow out. This is absolutely the dumbest design imaginable. I was able to fuel a manual lawnmower but only after spilling some gas because the spout wasn't angled enough and I couldn't close the spout fast enough. After I finished there was still gas in the drain that didn't go into the mower or back into the canister. When I later tried to refuel the lawn tractor there must have been a pressure difference between the tank and the outside air such that when I squeezed the spout to release it the gas from the spout was sprayed all over the tractors. Imagine the tractor is running and I'm refueling a hot engine. A "safe" spout is more dangerous than using an open container and funnel. If you buy this glass, plan on spending more money right away to buy a replacement spout. Or better yet, don't buy it at all.
