Please note that the clasps on this collar are made of plastic. The only metal part is the D-ring where the tags attach. Our 40 lb dog was outside on a rope chewing on a bone when I heard a loud noise. I ran outside and pulled the end of the rope. The rope returned with a broken collar, but no dog. It was pitch dark outside and luckily she was wearing a life jacket so I could find her. She is a golden mix and not a muscular dog. It looks like the plastic buckle broke instantly in one movement. We were lucky it broke as it wasn't on a busy road. I would recommend collars with metal clasps or buckles. I bought this collar thinking the reflective elements would add an extra layer of safety, but ironically it wasn't safe at all. The heavy metal on the D-ring is useless. It just makes it harder to toggle tags on and off. Heavy metal could be put to better use.
