I have been a New Balance customer and avid runner for over 20 years. However, I can't walk after a heart attack, so I've gotten used to brisk walking. I have sensitive knees and am prone to leg cramps too so I bought NB walking shoes - hated them. Very stiff and not very cushioning support. I then bought an NB Fresh Foam 880 to use as a hiking shoe. They seem to be walking on air. Very comfortable with great support. The only caveat I would like to offer is that they tend to wear out very quickly. I bought them in June and walk about 4 miles 5 times a week. By the end of August I can see significant wear on the sole but still a great shoe. Another caveat is that the toe box is smaller than other NB shoes. It took me a while to get used to not lacing the shoes too tight so the toe box could expand more.
