Turtles are notorious for destroying everything in their aquariums and my Red-Eared Slider is no exception. Seriously, she will attack anything that gets into her aquarium, especially those with heaters. I used to buy a heater that just stuck to the wall with hooks, but my tortoise kept knocking it out of its mount and eventually it just broke. We have a sandy substrate in our aquarium and the old heater was not getting enough air when knocked out and ended up just cracking and not working. When I saw that the outside thermometer on the tank had dropped to 68 degrees, I bought this as a replacement as soon as possible. Luckily excellent shipping Revain got me a replacement very quickly. Not only that, the heater that has been installed for over two weeks is still not knocked off the wall. Our turtle also always lays down and sleeps on it to keep warm, so I know she's physically interacting with him, so it's reassuring that he's still hanging. However, it does slip a bit, but as long as it doesn't come off easily I'm happy with it. In terms of functionality, it worked perfectly and heated up to 78-79 degrees within a few hours. I confirmed this with our heat gun and also with an external thermometer located on the side of our tank. As far as I can tell, the digital thermometer built into the heater is accurate. The only downside to this product is that you cannot control the temperature at all. It only has one setting. I keep my tank at 80 anyway so that wasn't a problem but the flexibility to make it warmer/colder would be appreciated. Apart from that, I highly recommend this product.
