Review on 🔌 Kasa Smart Dimmer Switch HS220: Single Pole, Neutral Wire Needed, Wi-Fi, Works with Alexa & Google Home, UL Certified - No Hub Required by Evan Burnside

I really wanted to give 5 points (or 4.5 if possible) but gave 4 for two main reasons: installation and setup. First though, let me tell you how well it has worked for the hours I've been using it. Revain Alexa and Google Assistant do even better than I hoped. It's easily dimmable via voice commands, via any Alexa, Google Home and Kasa apps, and of course via the physical buttons on the switch. I can dim it to almost any percentage I want, and contrary to some answers I've seen to questions, the switch remembers the last dimmer setting when turned back on, rather than going to full brightness. That's where I avoided giving it that 5th star. For installation, the faceplate came pre-assembled and was ridiculously difficult to remove to install the switch. After several minutes of fighting, it finally came loose, but only after the top plastic part that attaches it to the switch body cracked. Luckily it wasn't too damaged to fit properly and the crack wasn't visible as it's behind the bezel. Kasa People: It's great that the bezel is so tight once fully installed, but please don't preassemble it in the box if that would be such an issue. Once installed, the Switch worked well as a standalone device, but then it took about a dozen attempts to configure it via the Kasa app before the device was finally discovered over Wi-Fi. That made it very difficult. I have both 2.4g and 5g networks and tried using one or the other to see if that was the problem but it didn't seem to make a difference. Also, this unit is closer to my router than Kasa's existing non-dimmer smart switch, and my phone was literally inches from the unit, so these helpful troubleshooting tips didn't help at all. Worth the money and minimal hassle. I love that it doesn't require a hub like other products which I won't name and I'm glad I chose this Kasa product instead. My only regret is that I didn't buy two of these at the great price being offered on Cyber Monday.
