read this if you’re having trouble connecting to 2.4 GHz on Google Wifi

Look, I’ve got to say that when a bulb was flashing like a strobe light and you can’t get it to connect to your Wi-Fi network because it’s a 2.4 GHz signal only, it gets a little frustrating. I had a lot of issues getting this to connect to my Google Wifi. Even though Google Wifi says it transmits by 5 and 2.4 GHz networks, you can’t force devices such as this to connect to 2.4. After experiencing the same issue with another set of smart bulbs that I have used previously, I realized that google had updated their firmware (10/31/19). Did some research and discovered one possible fix it actually worked for me. I disabled a couple of the access points by unplugging them. Then I walked to the furthest point from the wired access point in my house. Due to the distance, my phone had it connect to the 2.4 GHz band. Note, reboot your phone after getting into position. That allowed me to setup the bulbs. One setup was complete, these bulbs are actually very attractive. I‘ll use them in outdoor sconces. Can’t vouch for their longevity or stability yet but at least they’re connected. Good luck! Can’t wait till the ‘smart’ devices will connect to the 5 GHz band.
