The tape measure has a small hook at the end, so you can temporarily attach it to an object and then move your hand away from the beginning to measure using only one hand. Except that the "hook" is the wrong shape, at least for me: the angle is obtuse, so it just slips off. Therefore, two hands must participate in each measurement. I don't know if everyone is like that or just me.
