I bought this to replace an old Uniden swim model I bought a few years ago that had decided to stop working. I bought it on September 21st and took it to the marina. As I climbed into my Zodiac, the clip came off my strap and it immediately sank about 10 feet into the water. The water in Narragansett Bay is opaque this time of year so I figured it was lost. Fast forward to November 14th and I'm retrieving something I left at the dock. It was a dead tide. I look down at the now clear water and see the radio. I tied a fishing net to a boat hook and was able to reach and pick it up. To my surprise, it still had a charge, and even more surprising, it was even transmitting and receiving! After it dried a bit it didn't change channels and I thought it was toast. After drying for a week it glowed and worked great. I still haven't charged it since September 21st. Will it fail in the future? Who knows, but the fact that he lived in 10 feet of salt water for almost two months is pretty amazing.
