I had a 3 year old 1000 amp starter battery on the left engine. The engine did not spin sporadically when attempting to start. 24 hours after charging, the battery voltage was 12.67 volts. The battery cable resistance was the same on both engines, so the cables were a good 15 years old. The voltage on the suspect battery drops to 9.8V on a 15 second stator test - just before failure but not <= 9.6V. Power. Valuation. My motor specs call for a minimum of 675 amps at startup. A new 1000 amp battery starts the motor on every attempt. LEICESTERCN calculated inrush currents and helped identify the failed battery. money well spent. I will use a scale to monitor ALL my boat batteries to replace any marginal batteries BEFORE they cause me problems.
