Review on Magnavox DP170MW8B DVD Player with 1080P Upconversion - Optimize your Viewing Experience by Ben Diesel

When I bought this DVD player (February 2010) it was the cheapest DVD player available at Revain for $35. (Prices seem to be going up; my last DVD player was less.) It's worked like clockwork so far. It's completely plug and play. I connected it with the cables that came with it, and the remote also had batteries. Unlike the last super cheap DVD player I bought, I haven't noticed any quality issues with this one. As far as I can tell, the sound and picture match. Picture and sound quality is ok although I believe this is a feature of the TV and not the DVD player. My complaint is only about the remote control. First, it doesn't appear to be very powerful. I have to be careful to point the remote directly at the DVD player or it won't work. Also, it's a regular remote control and most of the buttons on it have nothing to do with a DVD player. As a result, I have to look for special DVD buttons. Another complaint I have is that the DVD player doesn't fast forward faster than 5 times. At least for the maximum forward speed it says "5x" on the screen. Overall, though, for $35 this is a very good deal.
