I just installed my 4 drawer filing cabinet on this trolley. The base was 15 inches and narrow and 26 1/2 deep which is acceptable. The building instructions claim it will hold up to 500 pounds. Although my filing cabinet was narrow you can use a pipe cutter or hacksaw to cut up to 6" from a couple of pipes, file the ends and this works up to about 13" on the side, you can do this for all four if you like . On the carpet, the double castors help with rolling. In addition, the locking casters make it look nice on the filing cabinet. I only locked the front wheels (all four wheels have brakes) and had no trouble rolling and pushed the document drawer all the way forward.
