This is a great bed for an older dog. The base is so comfortable I want to sleep in it. It took several days for the bed to "inflate" and eliminate the foam smell. My dog refused to sleep in it for about 10 days, approached it, sniffed it and left. In the end I cleared the "old" bed out of the room and the dog had no choice but to use the new bed or the new floor - horror! So he gave in and went to a new bed for the night. My dog is a medium sized American Foxhound/Blue Heeler mix weighing about 45 pounds. I quickly found that the "inside" measurement of the bed was too small to turn it over. Although the base is orthopedic which is what I've wanted for her since she was 7 years old, the sides fall down reducing the interior space. My poor boy got crushed in bed from ass to nose. I bought a big one. At night I found it partly hanging off the bed which looked very uncomfortable as the bed is so high. I would like a very large size as I feel it is a good bed with great support. If only the sides didn't fall through as they aren't the same consistency as the bottom inside, it could have had a little more room. I will probably send it back as it doesn't fit my dog. But it's a great bed and I would highly recommend it except for a larger dog who likes to stretch out!
