I love new painting materials so as soon as this paper arrived I tore up the plastic, grabbed a notebook and took it out for a test spin. First, it's a delicate, cold-pressed texture - if you like lots of textures this might not be for you, but for me it's perfect. I often prefer hot pressure to printing, but with a smoother cold pressure, painting can be a pleasure. can touch paint on paper. It retained the thin, lustrous sheen of the water, and the color spread beautifully; the paint dries quickly on it and the colors retain their luminosity after drying. Although it is not cotton, it withstands rubbing well. The lift was fairly good with non-staining colors, although the staining colors did not lift 100% even immediately after the wash was added, but lifted acceptably. applied to all the papers I used, cotton or not. The blue tape I use to secure the paper solved the problem and it did not tear, tear or mar the surface of the paper when removed. I also tried the QOR masking fluid on it and it came off easily without leaving any residue or damaging the paper. My test run was done with both Schmincke and Sonnet (White Nights student line). These are very different inks and both performed well on this paper. Happy to find good paper at such a good price. It worked well wet-on-wet, dry-on-wet, and withstood brushing, lifting, tape, and masking fluid. It might not be as good as the Canson Montval, but it's very close - some may prefer - and cheaper. I'd say it's great for practice, drawing, tutorials, and as a large watercolor sketchbook or urban watercolor sketches. Or you can cut it into quarters to use for greeting cards.
