Review on πŸ”˜ Black 30-Inch Broan-NuTone 423023 Insert Range Hood with Light and Exhaust Fan by Hugo Caywood

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The one I bought is quite noisy. Disturbingly loud.

I know it's an economy hood but it looks good. The most disappointing feature is how loud mine is. It's twice as loud (on quiet) as I expected. When it's high, it's as loud as our vacuum cleaner. Fans aren't rocket science, and a good, quiet fan shouldn't have any financial implications. The fan in this one looks exactly like the one I pulled from a 40 year old trailer to use in my shop. In addition, the vent tube and fittings have male threads (crimped end) on one end and female threads on the other. Airflow should be from the female end to the male end. This means that the connector on the hood must be male for your duct to work properly. The connection piece on this hood has an internal thread. So if you plan to put your duct pipe on it and run it properly, you may need to crimp the hood fitting a bit to allow the female end of your duct to fit on it. .My advice if you buy this. Remove the grease filter, then the two screws holding the fan. Lower the fan, take and cut two strips of rubber where the fan mount goes so it doesn't get in the way of the fan. Bracket from direct metal to metal contact when reinstalling. This dampens the vibrations and partially reduces the noise.
