Review on Tekpower TP4000ZC Auto Ranging DMM with USB Interface - PC Based Digital Multimeter, Similar to MS8220R, Computer Compatible by Jason Wesley

High quality for home and hobby.

Relevance for the 21st century. Bought my first digital multimeter. Analog user in the last decades. Supplies for general home use and new hobby (rc quads). After watching a number of videos and writing reviews, I settled on this particular meter. The build quality, accuracy, and precision feel almost like "Fluke" quality, but at a significant savings. Tested against relatively good quality charger/reader (iCharger 206B). Voltage, resistance, meter readings almost identical. Close enough for hobby use. Probe quality and unknown reliability limit this 4* DMM. The quality of the cords is good. Soft and flexible (at least up to 10*C). Tips are not the best quality. Becomes apparent when you check for continuity. Sometimes I wish the continuity buzzer was a little louder. Suitable for normal working conditions. A little soft in noisy environments. Functional built-in stand. The stand with rubber grommet allows the switch to be rotated without the meter slipping. The red rubber-plastic case offers little protection from falling onto a hard surface. Ensures good adhesion to the flow meter. Sensor mounts built into the sleeve are functional. Consider adding a padded case/holster for "field" work or when storing in a tool box. You must manually disable this feature every time you turn on the device. never mind The activated RS232 mode consumes some power from the reader's battery. The only caveat is not to rotate the selector switch while reading and to pay close attention to polarity when inserting the temp probe. Conclusion: High-quality digital multimeter for home and hobby use. Relatively easy to use.
