Review on Dura Living Steak Knife Set by Richard Messar

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good knife for the money, good blade, very sharp

While I was hoping and expecting this knife to weigh a bit more, it's a very good knife. It weighs 197g but as I have another model from the same company that weighs more I thought this one would be heavier as well. I'm not sure but I think it's a different and therefore slightly lighter steel bend. I would like the back and/or full shaft to be a bit thicker thus adding extra weight. Now that's a decent thickness, but it's probably 2/3-3/4 the thickness of a quality Zwilling JA Henckels 7" (225g) Santoku knife. 10% off buying mine vs $80-$180 for Henckels and the like As for the sharpness, I'm very surprised at how sharp the blade is. It shaves the tips of my nails easily when run across it. VERY SHARP. I can spot a few very small and unimportant flaws in the material if I look really closely where the handle meets the stock/smooth.The handle and blade are generally good, large and works well for a large hand.I think this is a very good knife for the price but I still wish I had it would weigh slightly more (but weight is in range for this style and size) I received the pen in blue and I really like it One issue is that the heel of the blade protrudes just below the blade which causes is prevented, d that the underside of the blade contacts the cutting surface AND/OR if factory made. After the process was complete, enough material was removed near the heal (last inch to 1.5 inches) to cause this problem. I can solve it with a rock, but I don't have to. I'm only giving four stars because the problem with the bottom inch or so is not touching the surface. Luckily the snot in the critical part of the blade and the seesaw in the blade are very good leaving a large flat cutting surface.

Cons
