Review on Dive into the Art of Clay Casting with UJ Ramelson Co Delft Clay Casting Kit: A Complete Package for Creating Beautiful Creations by Wendy Rodriguez

If cost is an issue, try comparing Delft versus Petrobond to see if the latter gives reasonable results.

I got the results I wanted so I chose Delft over Petrobond but wasn't too keen on how expensive Delft clay is and being a very skeptical person from experience am I did it Not having Petrobond to compare I was a little worried they sent me the latest cheaper material instead of real Delft which I am still not sure but I got the results I wanted. and the product is mostly reusable and fun to work with. Below are photos of an open ended silver bar and two wax seal charms I made from this material. *Note that I have not yet added the vents to the Elephant Casts and on the first pendant I kept the resulting spurs which were the result of excess metal dripping into the vents and achieving a full cast. During the second casting I removed the spurs and sanded them completely. I strongly recommend large vents over the vents and at least six vents and far more metal than is necessary to force the molten metal through to fill the mold and achieve a full pour, as this is not the case. can be seen in the last photo showing my first failed fill.

Pros
  • Permanent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
