Advanced Affordable Scanner

This scanner is great for weekend handymen and mechanics looking for something affordable. This scanner supports many advanced functions, compatible with many car brands, models and OBD protocols, and easy to use. They have basic OBDII functionality but can also scan and clear codes for ABS and airbag systems. Basically, it's an Android tablet running a special custom Android OS to interact with OBDII. The screen, which I think is 5 inches and feels more like glass than plastic, is a plus. It's touch-sensitive and doesn't have any physical buttons other than a recessed reset button. So this could be an issue if the digitizer, the part of the screen that detects touch, ever goes bad. Otherwise, you can just set it up with a 2.4GHz WiFi network to update your programs as well as the system firmware. and also access the Store for even more advanced features. CS4 brings you four advanced features found in new cars and trucks as lifetime programs. For example, you can remove the oil warning after an oil change or reset TPMS. For other features, B. ABS Bleeding, you need to use the store and pay 29.95 for it, and this is only for annual subscription. So in a year you will have to pay again. Although it is comparable to other scanners. Note, however, that every advanced feature you might need, something that isn't one of the main four, costs 29.95 per year. Every. If you're a mechanic, it won't be a big problem with ROI from more frequent use. Do it yourself, although that's kind of crap. For me my 2001 Chevy Blazer so I don't really need advanced features and please note not all features will work with every make and model so check first. The store itself is easy to navigate, and if you're looking for different programs to add to your purchase, there's a reviews section for each. The glaring problem I found is that there isn't much information about each of them and all known compatible brands and models. In fact, you will find some people saying how they paid for this feature and finding that it doesn't work for them. So keep that in mind. Although the scanner itself is great for what it already has and was able to find some codes related to my dreaded P0300 issue and found that my ABS module has an issue (shared with my car) and that my airbag system is in perfect working order . You can also view live data as well as still image data and customize exactly what you want to see. So I set it up to show me real-time data for all cylinders and their history. I have found that cylinders 3 and 6 are misfiring due to a high count. I can then make a report of it and save it as a PDF or email the report to myself or if you are a professional mechanic you can email your customer. On the top of the scanner, under a dust cover, you'll find a USB-C port (USB-C cable included) and a micro SD card slot. Now for the USB-C port, you can use the included cable to connect the scanner to a PC or laptop to get files from it. Micro SD card slot, although I found it didn't work, at least not with the 64GB card I tried. I put it in and nothing appeared like it was recognized and when I go into the file manager it only shows the internal storage and not the external SD card storage. This could be an issue with the slot itself, or simply with the choice of which micro SD card is used. take. But it's worth considering if you plan to use an SD card to move files. Another glaring issue I've found is that while the box it comes in is pretty good, so be yours. There is no soft or hard case included, which for a scanner that could be in a shop or even at home is more than necessary for a device like this in my opinion. This box alone does not last long in the store. Aside from a few pitfalls I've found as an advanced scanner that helps me diagnose problems beyond OBDII, like ABS, it does the job well in my opinion. .And I also forgot to mention that the store has a points system. You can "check in" through the store every day when connected to Wi-Fi, and every 3 days you get 1 point. You will automatically receive 5 points. Each point works like $1. So remember the subscription price of 29.95 for each extended program? That means you can save $5 off the price right away, or once you've earned 30 points you should technically get an annual subscription to your chosen feature at no additional cost. No need to plug the scanner into the vehicle or just turn it on and check the results every day. Just plug the USB-c cable into a USB power adapter like the one that comes with your phone and it will power on. All in all, I can recommend this scanner. This would make a great gift for a weekend warrior, mechanic, or family member who could use it.
