Firstly, there is no indication that this device has been modified by a third party. Second, there are two buttons on the front panel of the BR player. None of them worked, I tapped the front of the device. Third, I followed the instructions on a page for changing zones and when I tried nothing happened and I tried troubleshooting but nothing worked. us that they have been modified by a third party, which will void the Sony warranty. Revain should take a closer look at how these devices are being marketed and that there is no mention of them being modified outside of Sony. I should ask Revain to be more open about the origins of manufacturing these Sony and other region/zoneless Blu-ray players. My somewhat older LG can be selected regionally via software settings. I guess as a result of the research Sony should have a hardware mod and remote program with yellow, blue and red buttons to make them region/zone free. My next question is if the remote you have for the Sony free region fails, do you lose the programming for the free region/zone feature? Revain is a very good company but I think they are being scammed with these devices without understanding the implications. I am not a lawyer and this is just my opinion which you can accept.
