
I just chirped my UV-S9. You need a programming cable (they usually come with the original UV-5R, I had one laying around) and you need to configure the Chirp to make the radio look like "UV-5R" - first load the factory data and save B "UV-S9 Factory" or something like that, then edit the variables to your liking (then save with a different filename) and make sure Chirp is set to UV-5R when loaded into the radio. This cheap little thing has literally the same firmware and channel memory scheme as the UV-5R.
