Too small although company website says 26 " fits dogs up to 35lbs - order at least 1 if not TWO sizes OVER

Just received this kennel today and am disappointed from her.I did extensive research to purchase a hard plastic box and chose this one because the product received good reviews overall and the seller offered it at a great price ($27 + shipping).I read many reviews that Read the description of the cage on the company website, looked closely at the measurements, measured my dog etc. But when I put it together 5 minutes ago it became clear that it is too small for what I needed, the product information on the company website states that this size (26 inches) is suitable for pets up to 35 lbs. But I would never use it on a dog of this weight/size and can e s on my 24 lb dog. I would say that this 26 inch cage is a decent size and is only suitable for dogs under 15 pounds. Background: I bought this plastic box primarily for my 24lb dog (Boston Terrier) and wanted to temporarily use it for my 14lb foster dog as well. I haven't used it for air travel, just wanted to use it from time to time when I'm traveling with my dog and I need to bring a long cage so he can use it on the rare occasions I need to let him in the room of the hotel/friend's house etc. for a short time during my absence so that he is not left unattended. I have a strong but heavy black metal wire cage for my dog that I use when I travel with him and I was looking for something different, strong but lighter and easier to travel with. I am also planning to take the dogs on a trip next week and thought I could use this new crate for my foster dog (and bring another metal crate for my dog) and then use a plastic crate after the trip and after my foster dog is adopted with my dog. But my 24kg dog won't be comfortable in this cage, it's too small. He would have quite a bit of headroom when standing and I don't know if he has enough room to stand up and change position if he wants to. (He refuses to go in the box and I don't blame him, but he has no problem getting into bigger and bigger boxes). My dog's metal cage is 30 inches and to be honest it's a bit big for him - he has plenty of room so I thought '26' would be fine. But the sides of the box don't go straight down - they're beveled at the bottom, so there's less room than the measurements show. Luckily I can use it with my 14 lb foster dog (also a Boston Terrier) for a very short time. But most of all, he is a very petite, slender, tiny dog. It has a lot of space, although I would still like more headroom. But I managed to get him to go inside and he is currently sleeping in it so hopefully next week he will put up with it on his trip and stay at the hotel from time to time. I will be donating this cage to a rescue group (well my foster dog's permanent family who adopted him) but I didn't order it for that purpose and am frustrated that I have to keep looking for a lighter cage to hold it use long time. with my dog. The closest size in this box is 32 inches, which I discussed when purchasing as my dog's metal box is 30 inches. But the company's website states that the 32-inch side fits dogs up to 50 pounds, and I figured there was no need to buy that larger size as I'm only 24 pounds. Also, the 30 inch metal box is quite large and doesn't take up more space than 30 inches, so I thought the 32 inch box is too big for that reason. But perhaps due to the slanted sides and low height of this particular product, the 32-inch would have been a better choice. (That was about another $30 that I didn't want to spend unless I had to). Travel. If so, maybe this is a normal product for some. But I would definitely recommend that if you're looking to buy this cage, that you buy at least one size LARGER than you plan to, if not TWO sizes up, to keep your dog comfortable. Your dog will appreciate it! Pros: I got what I thought was a great price ($27 + shipping) for this item. Delivery was fast. Easy to assemble. Good locking mechanism. Cons: Too small for my 24 lb dog, although the company says it's for pets up to 35 lbs. The ceiling is too low at this 26 inch size - my 24 lb dog refused to get in - and I don't blame him, it's like being stuffed into a small dark box. The packaging of the product was terrible - the box fell apart completely. Luckily none of the parts looked damaged. The thing was dirty, covered with dirt and dust. Maybe such a high price was because the seller kept it in a dirty, dusty barn or in a warehouse? Who knows.
