I had no trouble seeing the projected line, but for those interested in customizing the regulation panel, this is not a very good product. It is almost impossible to draw a line the right distance and parallel to the board as the tiny movement is greatly magnified at almost 8 feet. The main problem then is that after it is finally set up and "locked" the repeated hits of the arrows will cause the line to move. While the set screws protect against laser strikes, they do nothing to prevent the line from slipping. After using it for a few days I felt something was wrong and when I pulled the tape back out I found it was over 2 inches long - unacceptable if I was setting up a practice environment. Save yourself the hassle and just use some tape. On my carpeted basement floor the one wrap hook and loop tape works great, just apply hook side down and easily remove when needed.
