I originally bought it to keep my kids entertained on long car rides. I bought it because it had 5 hours of battery life and should work fine and we can then charge it with the included wall charger for our return trip. When unpacking, I noticed that there is a car charger inside! Cool, my old man didn't have that! So it definitely won't die in the middle of a ride and won't disappoint the kids. It also has multiple A/V cables so you can use it as a DVD player at home on the big screen and between car trips, making it useful 24/7, not just on car trips. In addition, the screen can rotate in the opposite direction. So if you have toddlers who want to hold down the button to open the DVD tray, you can turn that part away from them, so that's the smartest part about it. It also comes with a remote control so you can control it easily. It was a great purchase! And don't worry it's full color, I just watched a black and white movie. Groucho Marx is simply the best.
