The stone grinds very smooth and makes an excellent intermediate stone for polishing/sharpening. The stand works really well and doesn't seem to slip too much even on a wet countertop. I can feel the quality when sharpening and it doesn't seem to take much effort. My only reason not to give it five stars is because of the thinness of the stone. In the photo the stone appears to be thicker than what I received. This leads me to believe that the stone will not last as long as I initially thought. Other than that, I haven't seen any clear signs of excessive wear on the stone that would mean this stone will not last long. However, I have purchased naniwa choosera stones elsewhere and they were much thicker and very comfortable to work with. Shapton #220 is also good for serious work.
