I bought a used planer that had been in use for a few weeks and all of a sudden it started making a horrible knocking noise as the wood went through the rollers ran. It felt like the chains were slipping over the sprocket teeth. The sprocket didn't look worn but I bought a new set and replaced them all. I cleaned the entire roller assembly, replaced everything and removed all of the sawdust and that solved my problem.
