Review on πŸ”Œ Enhanced Motorcraft YH-1715 Blower Motor Resistor by Joe Vazquez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My co-worker has a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty so I ordered that too.

My work truck is a 2005 Ford F-150 and my fan was only running at maximum speed which is 4 and very noisy. My colleague has a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty, so I ordered one for his truck as well. If you have a 2004-2008 Ford (I'm sure others have them too) you can order one of these as this is a very common problem. Out of 9 Ford trucks at my work, 5 have had the same problem. My mom's Escape and my dad's Ranger, both 2008 models, also had this problem. On my truck (2005 F-150) it's easy. The glove box has a rubber stopper on the right side, push on it and lower the glove box. You will see two 8mm screws on the black end cap. Disconnect the connector by pressing the tab and pulling out the cable, then remove the screws. It was easy for my truck. Take out the old part, replace it with a new one and reverse the steps. Done, the fan motor is running at all speeds again. Don't let the dealer fool you into buying a new fan motor you don't need! On my colleague's 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty, it was the same process but much more difficult. These trucks have two sets of cords with gray connectors that need to be disconnected and removed from the road. Having a socket wrench with a longer end helps, and you need to be lying on the seat with your head toward the driver's side. The part is at a high angle thanks to the air chamber, so it takes a little longer, but it's still easy. 5 minutes on my truck and about 20 minutes on Super Duty and both blowers running at all speeds. Unfortunately I went with a short handle socket for both, I recommend a longer handle wrench to make life easier.
