The product works as it can be customised, but buyers should be aware that this product is larger than your existing striker plate. The spacing of the screw holes is the same as a bolt plate, so you'll either need to take a chisel and enlarge the slot in the plate, or if your door has enough clearance between the door and the jamb and you don't care how it looks, you can simply screw this plate onto the post. It will protrude about 3/16 inch from the hinge. This is what I did and it works fine. Additionally, the screws that come with the kit are approximately 1.75 inches long - much longer than regular counterplate screws. I'm sure the plate needs to be held tight to maintain the set setting, but unless you pre-drill these screws they will almost certainly break when tightened, especially in hardwoods.
