Review on 🧢 Lion Brand Yarn 828-200 Shawl in a Ball Yarn - Community Coral - One Size by Amanda Castillo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Five stars for certain models.

This yarn is ideal for crocheting half-granny J scarves. The end result is soft, airy and has pleasant color changes. I skipped the piping and just went from double to half double to single and finally slip stitch on my last row so I could use every inch I could. The three shawls I knit washed well and machine dried and seemed to be very popular as gifts. Still, I can't imagine crocheting or knitting a long warp row with this yarn. The texture makes it fluffy and splits like a much thinner Lion Brand version of homespun (which is very difficult to work with). It's a thick and thin yarn, but the thick parts aren't actually thick, so I'm surprised this counts as a worsted weight. Most of it was more like finger yarn, IMO. The yarn itself feels nicer than home-spun (the material squeaks) and when I made a mistake, it unraveled without much effort. I can see how he can easily get tangled in a tangle, although I've tried not to catch him too often. I had one, two knots max between every three strands, so that was a plus, and even then the knots were tied together in either the same color or a similar shade that the change didn't cause irritation. Of the three skeins I purchased, Community Coral was my favorite, although Calming Desert and Peaceful Earth were also my favorites. I have just ordered Feng Shui Gray for another scarf and expect to be as happy with it as the other options.

Pros
