Review on Dade 6912042080 746-603 Toyota Rav 4 Front Left Driver Side Door Lock Actuator (2000-2005) by Josh Allred

Runs like new - engines

I ordered a pair of front door locks to replace the broken ones on my 2005 Rav4. The first units weren't Dade, and there was an awkward rattle coming from the driver's side. Ordered a Dade part to replace a broken driver's side unit. The Dade part is assembled and finished much better than the other parts I have ordered. After installing the mechanisms, my locks would not respond to pressing the unlock button on the key fob or door lock control handle. After searching the Rav4world forums, it turned out that the problem lies in the thrust coming from the mechanical lock to the drive mechanism. This rod may need to be bent slightly to increase the overall distance between the locking mechanism and the mechanical key lock (the rod that goes into the pink bracket). If your lock doesn't respond to the lock button but responds to the unlock button, try putting the key in the lock and turning it forward slightly, then press the lock button on the fob and see if it responds. When the doors lock, gently flex the rod to allow the power locking mechanism to complete a full rotation for the lock position sensor.

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • hard to tell
