I am very happy with my AmScope purchase. It is made of high quality materials and has excellent optical quality. So why only 4 stars? After experimenting a bit, I found that the one-handed model also has a downside. Loosening the adjustment to move the arm horizontally (closer/farther from the base) also allows the arm to rotate on its own axis. This is impractical if your head is offset from the arrow's centerline - it will want to rotate once you loosen the adjustment. Ideally you want to be able to freely move your arm back and forth while you work, but due to rotation issues, you must always tighten the adjusting nuts snugly except when actually moving your head. I decided I wanted to replace the device with a two-handed device that would not have any rotation issues. AmScope SM-5BX-FRL Professional Binocular Stereo Zoom Microscope, WH10x Eyepieces, 3.5x-45x Magnification, 0.7x-4.5x Magnifying Lens, 8W Fluorescent Ring Lamp, Dual Lever Ball bearing tripod, 110-120V, V 0.5x Barlow lens included. I took off a star due to rotation, which may or may not be an issue for you. If you hold it in a fixed position most of the time, you might not care and save yourself the extra cost of a two-handed model. I have to say that AmScope's customer service has been excellent. They went out of their way to help me get what I wanted and were very helpful in smoothing out the details of the deal.
