I also had trouble attaching the gooseneck plate to the back of the phone holder. The pressure required to "click" the locking slots is greater than can be applied with bare hands. My tool of choice was an Irwin soft-jaw ratchet clamp. Holding the two panels level, I placed one jaw on the top edge of the phone holder and the other jaw on the bottom edge of the gooseneck plate. I squeezed the clamp slightly and the panels "clicked" and were firmly connected. Once assembled and installed, this phone holder works flawlessly with no wobbling or bouncing while on the go - the gooseneck is solid.
