The shape was a bit of a problem
We have stayed in 6 different hotels and towns in Australia and New Zealand and found that the outlets there are different to the US as they all have counters. on them. Unfortunately, the switches were right above the holes that the plug pins go in, and since this adapter goes "up" into the outlet, it sometimes pushed the outlet's switch, which turned it off. I suggest the manufacturers of this product redesign it so that the top end of the adapter hangs under the pins rather than over them.
