I have used Maxell CD-Rs exclusively for over 20 years. About a month ago, my bounce rate went from 0% to 75%. I thought I probably had a bad batch but I've tried 3 different vendors in the last month and the drives had the same failure rate. In the last batch I received only 1 of the first 5 failed. I'm a professional recorder and I've found that the first 75 minutes of each disc is fine, but after that it starts skipping. So far I have always easily put more than 79 minutes of music on a disc. No longer. Obviously, Maxell isn't a name to trust anymore. As said, they're great for the first 75 minutes, but most will skip or freeze between 75 and 79 minutes when recording music.
