Functional and beautiful

I've been looking for ways to make the new Xbox Series X more portable. Although I already have the G-Story portable monitor that I got for my birthday last year, something integrated might work better. Admittedly, there were things that made me think a little. My feelings about the size of the 12.5-inch screen and the lack of 4K120fps before I got it left me a little disappointed. When I received the monitor, however, the size was by no means a source of disappointment: the screen, bezels and everything else fit flush with the Series X's dimensions in horizontal orientation. If it were a bit larger, it would not only look ridiculous, but some of that would likely get in the way of the heat being blown out of the top of the console. So the size is perfect for the built-in theme that G-Story is aiming for. While the absence of the 4K120 might seem like a missed opportunity, once you think about it, it's all a missed opportunity. You still get great performance and can technically hit 120fps if you want to upgrade to 1080p. However, if you want quality performance with the highest quality graphics and ray tracing, you're still getting around 60fps, so a 4K60 screen will be fine. Therefore, the design and framerate limits are very well thought out to achieve the best possible visual quality with functionality and fit for a laptop screen. The picture quality itself is ideal for most media, although I would suggest changing the color temperature from standard to warm when you turn on the screen and console. This really helps with overall picture quality and makes HDR popular. One thing I definitely have to point out as a surprise that is really well designed is the speakers. You get a bit of 3D sound design added through the stereo speakers. So far I haven't even turned the volume up past the default 50% or any of the audio quality settings in the monitor settings, and I've been pleasantly surprised. Not only is there an impressive balance of bass and treble with good overall sound quality, the sound is also a bit more realistic when it comes to echo, creating the illusion of sound movement with just two speakers. There are probably ways to increase functionality by adding at least one more speaker for some extra depth, but there's also a jack you can plug into an extra speaker to add now. Speaking of extra ports, there are actually two HDMI ports that you can use on this monitor. So if you have two consoles, you can connect both (e.g. Series X and Switch). One is rated at 4K60, but you can set the settings for lower resolutions. The other seems to be 1080p, but you can set the frame rate to 120 (at least on the X series. It's not entirely clear what's what, so after my first test run I actually had to change the monitor output to get 4K60) . I've informed G-Story about the lack of clarity, so they can probably post more documentation on which HDMI port is which. While this is a small issue, just for the sake of transparency, it's still an issue. . It may take some effort to connect the monitor to the console, at least the first time. I informed G-Story. I also shared a review with them on YouTube, where the browser also had some issues connecting to the console. So they said their engineering team will take care of it so that this little issue can be fixed as well.
