I had a guilty conscience 4-5 months after buying this blanket. I've bought the same one before and never had any problems. I put this new one on my bed and the other one on one of my other beds. From February I started getting constipated and when I woke up every morning I could hardly breathe. Didn't know what it was. I ended up getting bronchitis and pneumonia as well as sinusitis. I never. At one point I thought it was a blanket. I bought a waterproof mattress cover, washed all the sheets many times including the electric blanket to no avail. Then I started using laundry detergent with no additives or fragrances, no dryer sheets or fabric softener. I wasted one and used the blanket I had on the couch that I use when it gets chilly. Tried everything and nothing seemed to work. I took the electric blanket off the bed and now have a mild ragweed allergy, but other than that I'm aware of who I was. It might be polyester but it clearly contains chemicals that I'm allergic to. If you are allergic, do not buy this blanket. I bought a competitor's blanket from another company and never had a problem.
