Review on ☕ Hamilton Beach 46899A: Programmable 10-Cup Thermal Coffee Maker with Cone Filter & Flexible Brewing - Stainless Steel by Paula Oster

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Died a year ago! Stays hot but messy cast and difficult to clean

UPDATE: He died on me two days ago. Two more weeks and it would be a full year since I received it. I used it almost daily for the first 2 months, then just once a week or bi-weekly for a couple of months and then about 2 or 3 times a week for the last 3 months. The last time it worked the light flickered a bit when I first plugged it in but it worked fine and after about a minute the light was constant. Next time I tried to use it, 2 days later, nothing. The light doesn't come on. It's just dead. That's why I downgraded my rating from 4 stars to 2. Even after 12 hours, steam still comes out. But the spout is terrible, and the design of the carafe doesn't allow you to pour out all the coffee. The coffee pours out of the spout randomly and sometimes runs down the bottom of the spout no matter how fast or slow you pour, so if you try to pour something with a smaller opening or don't position it perfectly in the center of the cup, it will penetrate everywhere. There is a wide rim at the top of the lid, even at the spout, making it impossible to pour all of the coffee out of the pot. Even when cleaning, after flipping it all the way down with the lid closed, a lot of water gets stuck inside, requiring me to tuck a towel in to get it out. Coffee pot with coffee. I bought a reusable stainless steel filter which also helps a lot and fits perfectly. The inside of the coffee pot, the water tank, is a little difficult to clean because of the design. Overall it makes good coffee and keeps it hot without burning and leaves it on the stovetop all day. But it's kind of a mess to pour and hard to clean.

Pros
  • Sturdy finish
Cons
  • Expensive
