Review on 🚲 Trunk Mount Carrier - Thule Passage by Fritz Wiest

Dangerous Secondhand

Thule has great products. This isn't one of them. Dangerous. During the 30 minutes of the ride we checked out our new bikes (an XL and a medium). Upon immediate inspection, we found a bike was hanging from one of the three straps. One of the straps was still attached to Thule's arm, but the other fell off while driving. We were concerned that the bikes would fall onto the freeway and possibly collide with the car in front. Thanks to a local hardware store we were able to secure the bikes by adding 2 ratchet straps. To compound the injury, we found the bikes were leaning on the handlebars, seatpost, top tube and fork, scratching each other. The top tube of both bikes was stripped down to aluminium, which we saw as a product compromise and decided to tape over all existing and potential contact points. PRE-USE/INSTALLATION: We bought this product for a vacation. The box was dented, packing material was missing and the 910XT itself was covered in a layer of dirt. Did not return item as order processing would coincide with our holiday. The 910XT had all the necessary components and fit in our trunk. There are very simple videos you can watch on how to install it. If you purchase this item be sure to tape over the metal hooks as they can scratch your car - we used electrical tape and this seems to have prevented scratches. Return Policy With most of Revain's return policies, we have found that the return period is quite long. This item can only be returned within 30 days - we missed the holiday window. We have now used Thule for about 7 hours on the go. From the looks of it, the product is functional given our efforts of gluing metal hooks, ratcheting bikes to Thule and securing our bikes with tape. We found that the grommets on Thule are bent and need to be replaced.
