I have purchased a new 30" GE Induction Hob and nonstick induction cookware set. I was disappointed with the utensils to find that the large frying pan on the large stove did not boil. The problem is that the hob detects the iron base of the pot and needs an iron plate at least 7.5 inches in diameter to turn on. The plate at the bottom of my new frying pan was only 7.25 inches in diameter, so the hob just flashed the temperature gauge and then shut off without turning back on. This diffuser panel seemed like the perfect solution to my problem. I figured this would allow the hob to heat the diffuser plate and the plate would heat the pan. However, when I tried to use it this way, the hob ran for about 30 seconds (heating the hob very hot) and then shut off completely. Something about the diffusion plate (probably its magnetic hysteresis properties) is causing the GE cooktop to turn off. That means it doesn't solve my problem. As a test, I took an old induction cookware that was larger than the minimum size of 7.5 inches. I was able to boil water for 30 minutes with no problems. I don't think it's the diffusion cooker, but I still can't use it for cooking.
