Bad tree decoration - works on a flat outside

Every Easter year I hang eggs on the connector near the front door. I love it, the kids across the street love it and it just became what I do. This year I wanted to hang bats in our verbina. I needed waterproof bats so I figured these bats might fit. I made bats out of construction paper to hang on the front window that runs the length of the front of our house. You look fantastic. I wanted to hang them on a tree to increase the effect. At first I knew I had to make holes in the bats to hang them up, so I took a nail and the holes were easy to poke. I took the fishing line because it is transparent and hung the biggest bats. I stood back from the tree in the yard and couldn't see any of the bats. Bats are too small to hang from a tree. I needed a new plan for bats. I've read from other people that the sticky strips that bats come with don't stick very well. We have vinyl siding in our house and it has a texture so I don't think tape will stick well to the siding. I taped the bats to the outside of our glass door using small pieces of tape. The door is protected from rain and wind, but so far so good. They look very good both outside and inside. I like that I can reuse them. I had a few extra hole bats left over, so I hung them in the light above our dining table.
