Great little device but difficult to use in a car

First of all, this is the BEST GPS I have ever used. This little device can do it all: navigation, basemap, map extension, tripmeter, waypoints, etc. It's the perfect grid for hikers, cyclists, and geocachers. Unfortunately, it lags behind in a car in the following areas: 1. The display size is too small. I installed this unit less than 3 feet away from me while driving and it is still very difficult to read the screen. Customizable map/navigation screen options are great, but what's the point if you can't read them? Some bugs are probably related to the layout of the car's interior, but some text enlargement would be a nice feature. Instead of looking at the device after a quick update, I stared at it for too long to be safe, just to get a sense of where I was. 2.Temper for heating in the machine. We were in Breckenridge, Colorado and the outside temperature was about 65-70 degrees and I will set the inside car temperature to about 80-85 before I turn on the air conditioning. The unit is mounted on top of the dash for a clear view of the sky and had an issue which I can only assume was caused by the heat in the car. Approximately every 2 minutes, the device will display a message stating that "external power has been lost and a button must be pressed to use battery power". Well, NO external power supply was used and only batteries were installed. No, the batteries weren't dead, so I had to keep clicking the joystick to "return" to battery power. Not suitable for safe driving. In general, for hiking and cycling, this is the best option so far.
