I had several large rolls of carpet stored in the attic of the previous owner of the house - very heavy, very bulky. I wanted to get the carpet out of the attic, down the stairs and take the trash to the curb (that's a lot of work). How and why they dragged that rug there I don't know, but it wouldn't be easy to lower it the same way. I've tried several methods of cutting carpet: box cutter, saber saw, Dremel Saw Max. Nothing cut through the carpet well. Max's saw jammed, the box cutter was slow and physical, and the saber saw was too slow. So I took some Dremel MM430 blades and they went through the carpet very quickly. The hook allows you to crawl through the carpet, and the small blade under the hook allows you to push it through. It was definitely the right tool for the job.
