Slightly less effective than a hungry guinea pig
It would be easier to sharpen pencils with a butter knife. The first pencil I put in my pocket immediately crumbled. Not too sharp, completely broken, almost half of the pencil turned into a coarse mulch. After thoroughly cleaning the parts, I tried another pen, this time VERY slowly and carefully. It reached about a half-pointed state before suddenly eating the pen again. On about the tenth try (I'm an artist and I'll be damned if I can't use a basic pencil sharpener) my wife asked me to call the project a failure and just buy another pencil sharpener. Almost impossible to clean
