I bought a house with a significant number of switches on the control panel that were not clearly labeled and this tool worked great for figuring out which circuits were connected to my outlets! If you have a modern dimmer with a row of LEDs it will sometimes give false alarms because they are very loud. Turn off all LEDs with a dimmer beforehand if you find that a switch trips even though you have moved around the transmitter.
